THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND

The Essential Kneads was founded by Camara Stewart, a British creative who moved from London to Berlin in 2020, with an optimistic mission in mind - providing a service that helps to make our lives easier, happier, less stressful and more fulfilling - these are the key motivating factors behind all of his endeavours, from branding to consulting to DJing.

With a background in fashion and brand management, Cam spent his early 20’s studying interior design and art history, before moving into the world of fashion, working as a womenswear stylist whilst studying for a Bachelor degree in Branding. This was followed by a short relocation to NYC in order to work on sustainability projects within the cosmetics industry, before returning to the UK to complete a Masters in Brand Communication.

His interest in massage therapy began in 2009, when he moved to Seoul. During his five years living in South Korea, he spent the winter months living in Thailand and after receiving dozens of treatments, became intrigued with the notion of utilising massage as an essential part of daily life in addition to developing a much better understanding of its benefits.

In collaboration with his knowledge of Anatomy and Applied Anatomy, Cam is trained in Thai Massage at level 1 and 2 from the International Massage School in Chang Mai, specialising in Thai Massage, Reflexology, Acupressure, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue and Energy Balance. He is also trained in pregnancy massage - a treatment that is become more and more in Berlin.

Whilst managing the business, Cam is also very hands on, providing individual and corporate massage treatments throughout Berlin and London.

THE OBJECTIVE

Since the beginning of the 2020 global lockdowns, Cam realised that more people have been taking the time to understand their own mental and physical health needs as a priority towards living a more balanced and peaceful lifestyle.

His main objective is to make the healing benefits of therapeutic massage more widely understood and utilised by the general public, whilst also helping other massage therapists realise their potential to play an instrumental role in the well-being of others.

Whilst the massage service is currently only available in Berlin and London, there are plans to expand into major cities across Germany and the UK.
